After reaching out to several large name companies and getting large name prices, my Mom recommended Richardson Plumbing and I am so thankful for that! He talked me through several “at home solutions “ on the phone to avoid having to pay a service fee and has even checked back in with me to make sure my plumbing situation is still going well. He is the true definition of small business. Definitely recommend!!

I have used Richardson plumbing for a number of things over the years. New water heater, replacement of a spigot on the back of the house, also replacement of some shower plumbing and faucet in a bathroom. John continues to be awesome. He is always tranparent with what the work entails and what it will cost. And he always leaves the work area clean when he leaves. Richardson is my go to.

Was at our home promptly on a Saturday - Christmas Eve, even. He was professional and courteous even as our reported "burst pipe" slowly revealed itself to be 4 burst pipes. Even stuck around to help thaw the other pipes nearby to make sure we wouldn't need them fixed, too! His price was extremely fair. Highly, highly recommended!

FAQ : Water Heater Installation Services

Quick answers to common questions about Water Heater Installation Services in Des Moines.

How much should a water heater installation really cost?

The cost of installing a water heater can change based on the type of system, the size of your home, and how complex the setup is. In many Greater Des Moines homes, prices can differ relying on whether you prefer a traditional tank or a tankless system.

You want a solution that fits your home without paying for things you do not need. A clear estimate should walk you through what is included so there are no surprises. Homeowners around Ankeny and West Des Moines often find that investing in the right setup helps avoid repeat costs later.

How do I know if my sewer line needs repair?

Common indications of sewer line problems include multiple drains backing up, strong sewer odors, slow drains throughout the home, or wet areas appearing in the yard.

In Des Moines, aging sewer pipes and tree root intrusion are two of the most typical causes of sewer tube damage, particularly in older neighborhoods.

If these symptoms appear, a professional sewer line inspection can identify the issue and determine whether repair is needed.

How long does it take to install a new water heater?

Most water heater installations can be finished within a few hours, especially when replacing an existing unit with a similar setup. In homes across Greater Des Moines, timing can vary depending on access, the type of system, and any updates needed for safety or efficiency.

A well-planned installation keeps the process smooth so you are not without hot water for long. In many cases, you can have your new system up and running the same day, which is especially important during colder Iowa weather.

Why does my new water heater run out quickly?

If your new water heater runs out of hot water too quickly, it may not be sized correctly for your home or your usage may be higher than expected. This is common in busy households around Des Moines where multiple fixtures are used at once.

It could also be related to settings or minor adjustments that need to be made. You want a system that keeps up with your routine without interruptions. A quick check can usually identify the cause and help restore consistent hot water throughout your home.

Do I need to replace my water heater or just repair it?

This depends on the age of your system and how often issues are coming up. Many water heaters last around 8 to 12 years, and older units in Des Moines homes may struggle to keep up, especially during winter.

If repairs are becoming frequent or performance is inconsistent, replacement can be the better long-term option. If the issue is minor, a repair may be enough to restore performance. The goal is to choose the option that keeps your home comfortable without ongoing problems.
